Diabetic with a bloodshot eye?

i am a diabetic a tew days ago i noticed i had a bloodshot eye they say i have conjuncivitus and gave me antibiotic eye drops i think i should go for a second opinion not happy with result
Answer:
You should seek a second opinion because there is a complication diabetics often get called retinopathy. Diabetes damages the blood vessels in the eyes, and proliferative retinopathy is what results... new blood vessels grow to take over for the damaged ones, however they are weak and often bust... leaving the person with a permanently bloodshot eye. This may or may not be the problem, but it is something you definitely need to speak to your doctor about because it's a sign of retinopathy which quickly leads to vision loss.Best wishes and good luck!
I think that if it doesn't clear up, go back to your GP and try to get referred to an eye specialist. You can get bleeding in the eyes with diabetes, so you need to get this checked out.
If the vision is intact simply go back to him again. Your response so far is unusually aggressive. It is not realistic to look for a second opinion every time what your GP says does not suit you!
A second opinion never hurts, but you didn't say why you weren't happy with the results, are the drops irritating you, do you feel it's taking longer then the doctor said , if you feel your getting worse call the doctor, you may need a different medication. The medication your doctor prescribed might not be compatible with your other meds.Conjunctivitis also know as pink eye, is contagious , be careful not to spread it to your other eye and other people. It takes longer to heal in a person with diabetes.
Yeah a second oppinion is always a good idea, better than worrying! I'd try not to worry at this stage - sounds to me like the doc is right (I don't say that often!) but you know your own body, so if you think that there is something else going on then keep on at the docs! Get a second, 3rd or 4th oppinion if you need to to satisfy yourself that they haven't overlooked anything. If you're worried that it's a symptom of retinopathy or something like that that's a serious diabetes related eye problem then I don't think that bloodshot is a symptom but I'm not a dr! Of course we've gotta be extra carefull with any infection so you are certianly not wasting the docs time by going back!Good luck - hope you get better soon xxx
